Took a mini getaway with my husband, sister and her boyfriend to the Big Apple! We decided to fly out for just a few days (Saturday-Tuesday to be exact). We snagged the best deal with Spirit Airlines, only $60 dollars! The catch was that we could only take a personal item. We made it work!
We stayed at The Graduate Hotel New York on Roosevelt Island. There’s a skytram option that takes you from Roosevelt Island right into the city. On our first day there, the temperature was brutal! We took a quick ride to Ralph’s Coffee to try it out. It’s in Manhattan and located where the Ralph Lauren Store is. After a quick drink there, we took an Uber to City Winery where we ordered a wine flight. So good! We headed back to our hotel to freshen up and have drinks and dinner at the hotel. The Graduate New York has a gorgeous rooftop bar with specialty drinks and spectacular views.
The next day we woke up bright and early and took the subway to Flipper’s for their must have pancakes and breakfast. I had the best matcha pancakes and avocado toast! After breakfast, we took a ferry down to Brooklyn to explore the area and take photos in Dumbo. After our photo op, we visited Time Out Market which houses various food and drink spots to enjoy, while looking out at the views. We had more pizza and some burgers.
We tried visiting Harriet’s Rooftop at the 1 Hotel in Brooklyn to check out the Polar Lounge, where everything is made of ice, but we got there a little too early. We opted out and decided to head back to Manhattan but by walking the Brooklyn Bridge. The views were amazing! We caught the sunset while walking the bridge and took in the experience.
We walked over to China Town and Little Italy to end the night and decided to have dinner at Da Nico Ristorante, where we had some good pasta and wine. We took the subway back to our skytram entrance and then headed back to Roosevelt Island to our hotel.
Monday we checked out Liberty Bagels to have their famous rainbow bagels and spreads! I had a Valentine’s Day inspired bagel instead. We ate our bagels at Central Park to enjoy the chilly weather. After breakfast we headed to Time Square to explore before heading to the Grand Central Station for a quick coffee break. We had tickets for SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, which is a unique multi-sensory viewing experience. We took in the views and then had a drink at their rooftop bar.
After that, we walked over to Battery Park to do some bumper cars on ice! Which was so fun! We had some bao buns as snacks at Battery Park before checking out 230 Fifth Rooftop for more drinks! To end the night and the trip, we had some local pizza and visited Joe’s Pizza.
Such a fun mini getaway! I love visiting New York. Let me know if you have any recommendations or suggestions for next time I visit!
