The pandemic has made us cancel booked trips and change all our plans this year. Now that Fall had arrived, my family and I thought we would take a little road trip up the the mountains to get away from the busy city and disconnect from work for a few days.
The Cabin
We rented a vehicle (if you are renting a car with a local Enterprise, be sure to look at reviews. Our experience was not the best this time around with Enterprise) and we were off for a week in the mountains! We stayed in a quaint Airbnb in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This cabin community had awe-inspiring views of the Smoky Mountains and contactless check-in. The cabin was tidy and perfect for our family of six (plus two pups!). The home was three stories with a king bed and a balcony on each floor. One balcony included a hot tub. The third floor was also a game room, filled with various table games and an arcade.
Gatlinburg
On our first day, we grabbed some groceries to make food at home during our stay. We made some BBQ and watched the sunset on our balcony that night. The next morning, we decided to head to Gatlinburg for a drive and to visit Anakeesta, a mountain top park with beautiful sights. We spent a short amount of time there and then headed back to our cabin for an early dinner, and to spend time with our dogs around the neighborhood. Gatlinburg is usually a touristy hotspot, with many restaurants and things to do.

Pigeon Forge
We visited The Old Mill the following morning to enjoy all that Pigeon Forge had to offer. There are shops to explore and Moonshine tasting. For lunch, we took a short drive to The Island. The Island in Pigeon Forge is filled with activities for the whole family! You can eat, play, and shop there, and it’s home to Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen.
On our last day in Pigeon Forge, we took a thrilling ride on the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster which was just a few minutes away from our cabin! We then decided to go Mini Golfing for some family fun. After relaxing in our cabin for a lunch break, it began to rain that evening and we thought that was the perfect time to visit Dollywood! The theme park was fairly empty due to the rain, so no lines or crowds! Dollywood was such a fun time, so many things to do and great thrill rides to enjoy.
It was a much needed getaway for the family and our dogs! Can’t wait to visit the area again one day.
