It was June 2015 and it was time to take a Summer trip, a group of 10 close friends ready to spend a weekend at sea together on Norwegian Cruise Line. Our first stop! Nassau, Bahamas and then Norwegian’s private Island, Great Stirrup Cay. What madness will ensue? Cruise tips: Pack lightly, bring plenty of sunscreen, get ready for excursions, and those drink packages are worth it.
Nassau, Bahamas
Our first day aboard, we got acquainted with the ship, exploring the ins and outs. After the typical safety testing and training, it was off to enjoy the rest of the day. The next morning we awoke at beautiful Nassau, Bahamas. While the rest of the group went straight to Senor Frogs, my boyfriend and I decided to check out Atlantis and we took a short cab ride there. We were able to explore the resort, the water park and beach area which is typically for hotel guests only. Day passes are available if you’re not staying at the resort! We checked out their lazy river, which is a blast by the way! (It’s not your typical lazy river that’s for sure), then continued off into the beach area to explore some more.
We found our way back to our friends where we downed some Bahama Mamas at Senor Frogs to end the day! That night, we were able to see what the ship had to offer. The couples tried to take part in a game show, it didn’t work out but it was worth a shot (embarrassing if you ask me). Oh, I have to mention the food. We reserved every night at the inclusive restaurants, they included a three course meal, which was an absolute delight! Cruise food is the best, and UNLIMITED. Those buffets are great.
Great Stirrup Cay
The second day we took a trip to Norwegian’s private Island, Great Stirrup Cay, where we decided to take part in an excursion, the Party Boat Snorkel Tour. We took a short snorkel trip around the area and then took a pit stop at a mini private island where we were able to lounge on the sand with a complimentary Bahama Mama in hand. When we boarded back on the boat, the party began. The tour guides were so fun and interactive, they made us get up off our seats and drink! You get a shot, you get a shot, everyone gets a shot! After that, we were able to play around on all that Great Stirrup Cay has to offer, including giant inflatable slides and huge tube floaties for everyone to enjoy.
It was nice to disconnect from society for a bit and just spend some time with close friends and the ocean. Cruises are always a good idea, let’s see where to next!
