I took my first business trip in 2017, I’ve never traveled alone (without my family or friends), so it was going to be a brand new experience for me. After a long work week (and graduate classes on Saturdays), it was time to make the trip. Word of advice for IPhone users, use Apple Wallet, so convenient when it comes to getting updates of your flight.
Aloft Austin at the Domain
Austin, Texas, here I come. The weather was beautiful and the people were so polite. Our Uber dropped us off at the Aloft Austin at the Domain. The Domain is a popular tourist attraction, where they have high end department stores including Dillard’s, and Macy’s. The spot has ideal shopping and appetizing food! Can’t go wrong with The Domain. We took to the streets and strolled around the shops and found ourselves in front of a Sprinkles cupcakes. So yummy!
Great food in Austin
I forgot to mention how gorgeous and modern the Aloft was, I was in shock when I first stepped foot into the hotel. Simple, but inviting, and my room was stylish and comfortable. I’d definitely stay there again! The hotel was accommodating guests from the conference so they also had free water wherever we went. This actually gets me so excited because I always end up staying at hotels where you have to pay for water bottles. So it was a plus! That evening, as part of the conference itinerary, there was a meet and greet with all attendees. Open bar and hors d’oeuvres. We were able to meet other guests and share ideas and insight about our organization. The new group and I decided to go out to grab some dinner before calling it a night. We walked a few blocks from the conference hotel and found Culinary Dropout. I kid you not, I had the best meal I have ever had! I had pasta topped with corn, and replaced the chicken for Italian porchetta. THE BEST MEAL HANDS DOWN.
That weekend we also checked out Torchy’s Tacos, a touristy fave! Breakfast tacos for the win. After two long conference days, it was time to head home. I hope to be back in Austin real soon.
