Maggie Delay Ice Skating Ribbon
Another trip for the books for my birthday. February 2017, a group of friends and I booked a flight to the Windy City for the weekend. In regards to prices, the best time to travel is February, prices plummet since it’s off season and some places get way too cold for some tourists during mid-winter. During our stay, we were able to explore the city by using the Hop on Hop off Tours, they’re a great way to get around and get the most out of a short trip! We also got acquainted with the city by exploring on foot after grabbing some grub at The White Elephant. During our first night in Chicago, we went ice-skating at the Maggie Delay Ice Skating Ribbon, it’s not your typical rink.
More fun things to do!
The next day we were able to explore The Art Institute of Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium and the Chicago Field Museum where we met SUE the T. Rex. That evening, we headed over to the Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, where we faced our fears and stepped out onto the Chicago Sky-deck for those epic Instagram pictures, it’s a must when in Chicago. I have to add on another tourist attraction to see in Chicago – Cloud Gate aka The Bean. It’s magnificent and the surrounding park is an ideal spot for an evening stroll.
Chicago 360
Our next destination on the trip was Chicago 360, where you get a gorgeous 360 degree view of the city. While there, you can attempt The Tilt, a tilting glass lookout that is 1,000 ft up! This observatory on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Building also has a bar where you can enjoy your evening looking out at all that Chicago has to offer. I have to add that Do-Rite Donuts are the best donuts I’ve ever had! It’s a MUST add on to your Chicago To-Do List. We also visited the Chicago Navy Pier, and we even found a little ice covered beach near the area. After a weekend in chilly weather, we had a final brunch at Wildberry Cafe to say goodbye to Chicago.
