When my friends were talking about planning a Summer 2018 trip to Vegas, I was all for it! We decided to take a week long trip to Vegas for Summer Splash (a music festival type event where you pay one price for event entry and hotel stay). We decided to go in early July since the lineup that week was pretty great – Kaskade and Diplo! – and it worked out because in August the Nevada heat can get up to 120 degrees. NOPE.
Things to do in Vegas!
I’m big on planning excursions/making plans for trips, I even plan outfits to bring depending on what we’d be doing each day. I had a perfect itinerary in my head, but it didn’t quite work out that way; there’s just so much to do in Vegas! On our first day in Vegas, the heat hit us like we were opening up an oven, so different from the Miami heat. We stayed at the Palms Hotel which had been recently renovated. That night, we went to see the “O” by Cirque de Soleil at the Bellagio Hotel. It’s a water-themed acrobatic show; such an incredible masterpiece! Highly recommend it.
I also recommend checking out a magic show in Vegas, there’s so many things to see. We were also supposed to attend our first event of the week that night, but opted out so we could be up and ready (at 6am) for our desert ATV Tour in the Mojave Desert, Arizona with Vegas Out Door Adventures. I was SO excited.
The next day we met our tour guide right outside our hotel and he drove us to The Last Stop, which is the last stop before going into the middle of nowhere. We bought some bandannas, put our helmets on, and we were ready to ride. It’s not as easy as it looks, let me tell ya. It was about an hour excursion where we were able to enjoy the desert heat, the beautiful scenery, and learned a bit about the interesting animal and plant life in the area. After the ride, we cooled off and enjoyed a yummy Famous Last Stop Burger.
Pool Parties + More
After a much needed nap, we checked out the Hakkassan Las Vegas Club to see DJ Tiesto. We woke up the next morning wondering “what to eat, where to eat?” So many choices in Vegas! We ended up going to Hash House a Go Go in the Flamingo Hotel. The Hash House has the fastest service I have ever experienced. They bring out your food so quickly and the food is HUGE. I love that place, it’s a must when in Vegas (giant chicken and waffles, ’nuff said). After breakfast, we headed over to the Encoure Beach Club at the Wynn to watch RL Grime spin live.
Grand Canyon West Rim
I was excited for our next excursion – Airplane Tour of the Grand Canyon West Rim with Scenic Airlines! We awoke to our tour driver outside our hotel and he drove us to Arizona where they had a small airport that heads over to the Grand Canyon. We landed in the West Rim where our first stop was Hualapai Ranch. We walked around the adorable ranch and ate our complimentary packed lunch. The second stop was the Sky Walk at Eagle Point where you get mesmerizing views of the rim. Pictures don’t do it justice!! The third and final spot was another West Rim point where the views were awe-inspiring, best views in the area. We hiked up to the top of this mountain (or what felt like a mountain) and took in the scenery. Here’s a few of my favorite pictures!
Last day in Vegas
That night, we explored Vegas and got to check out all the hotels (the Venetian is my favorite!) and had some delicious In-and-Out. I was heartbroken though, so many great food spots not enough tummy space/time. We went to one more pool party the next day to see Kaskade (my fav) at the Marquee Day Club, it’s really chic. Kaskade acknowledged my Kaskade hat btw (I fan girl’d). So to sum up our trip – we ate and slept, a lot. Thank you Vegas for the good times. One week is just not enough time in Vegas!
